BOTOX® Cosmetic is an FDA approved, non-surgical, physician administered, aesthetic treatment used to reduce moderate to severe wrinkles and fine lines. Sun exposure, aging, genetics and smoking can contribute to the presence of facial wrinkling.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a very safe and effective method of smoothing the signs of facial aging. Dr. Richard L. Kofkoff of St. Louis, Missouri is a talented and experienced cosmetic surgeon that is skilled in the use of BOTOX® Cosmetic to create a youthful and toned appearance to the facial features of his patients.
How it Works
BOTOX® Cosmetic works by blocking the chemical signals that cause muscles to contract and prevents them from tightening. Dr. Kofkoff uses a very small, thin needle to inject minute amounts of BOTOX® Cosmetic into the muscles which surround your most prominent wrinkles. The substance weakens the muscles which are producing your wrinkles and restores a more youthful and smooth appearance to your skin.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is used to treat the following conditions:
- Forehead creasing
- Crow's feet
- Frown lines
- Neck bands
The amount of BOTOX® Cosmetic that will be necessary depends on your individual facial features and the extent of wrinkling you are having treated. Dr. Kofkoff will examine your skin to determine the approximate number of treatments you will need in order to obtain your desired results. This information will be discussed with you during your consultation.
BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments are generally performed in the comfort of Dr. Kofkoff's office and only require about 10-15 minutes per appointment for completion. No anesthesia is required. Some patients may experience mild discomfort from the needle injections, but most find it very tolerable. You can expect the benefits of the treatment to last approximately three to four months.
