Dr. Kofkoff's Preferred Methods

Dr. Kofkoff has over 20 years of experience performing cosmetic surgery procedures. He has developed his preferred methods for performing each of his surgical procedures, including breast augmentation.

His Rapid Recovery technique has become his signature procedure. This technique enables patients to recover easily and comfortably from their breast augmentation. By being very proactive with respect to pain management, most patients are able to return to work or to caring for their families much faster than with other surgical techniques.

The procedure itself is much gentler with a more meticulous way of placing the implant under the muscle. In most cases, the patient will return for their one week follow-up appointment with little or no noticeable bruising.

Implant Options

Dr. Kofkoff performs breast augmentation using both saline and silicone implants. Incision placement is determined based on the specifics of each case, but may be either at the edge of the areola or under the breast. Most implants are placed under the muscle as there are a number of advantages to placement in this location.

During your consultation, Dr. Kofkoff will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both types of implants. He will try to match the implants to your body type and the outcome you are seeking.

Implants are available with both smooth and textured surfaces.  A textured surface is designed to create adherence of the implants to the surrounding tissue.  This can help minimize the risk of rotation, particularly of a shaped implant.  In addition, the textured surface may help to reduce the incidence of capsular contracture (tight scarring around the implant) with silicone implants.  The adherence may also minimize the potential for excessive settling of the implants.

One of the potential consequences of texturing is an increase in rippling.  This seems particularly evident with textured saline breast implants, but may also occur with silicone implants as well.  Dr. Kofkoff will review these issues with you and help you to choose an implant that is appropriate for you.

Dr. Kofkoff determines the implant profile (diameter and projection of the implant) based on each individual patient’s anatomy. He makes every effort to match the new breast implant to the patient's unique body type.
